Life
S.K. Waller as been a professional composer and performing musician since the age of 12, having worked with the Ventura County Symphony in California as conductor’s assistant from 1986 to 1992 under maestro Frank A. Salazar who was Waller’s teacher and mentor. Waller’s music has been performed in California, Oklahoma, New York, England, Spain and Italy.
After a stay in Vienna in 1994, Waller began writing Night Music, The Memoirs of Wolfgang Amadè Mozart. Some of Waller’s other works include articles for numerous music journals and newsletters, including the American Composers Forum journal, The Sounding Board, Rick Brainard’s 18th Century History website, and articles for The Encyclopedia of 18th Century History.
Waller is currently being spotlighted in a documentary by Academy Award and Emmy winning Canadian filmmaker Larry Weinstein of Rhombus Media (The Red Violin, Making Overtures, Yo-Yo Ma - Inspired by Bach, The War Symphonies: Shostakovich Against Stalin, September Songs: The Music of Kurt Weill, Ravel’s Brain, and Beethoven’s Hair) in a film to be released for the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth.
Waller’s current musical projects include a chamber opera, and a trio for piano, violin and ‘cello for the film.
