- Manuscript of Shostakovich violin concerto brings double the estimate
(24 May 2006)The manuscript of Dmitri Shostakovich's first violin concerto was auctioned at Sotheby's on 19 May. The final bidder offered £ 43,200, more than twice the top estimate. The document is a corrected proof of the version for violin and piano. In is enscribed "This can be printed in accordance with the corrections, DShostakovich 11 June 1956" (translated).
