4000 composers and counting...
Dear %3% (%2%),
More than 400 composers
When I started the Classical Composers Database 14 years ago, I had the basic data for 750 composers. Last week I entered the 4000th composer name! This means that over the last 14 years on average I added 232 composers each year, or about 4 each week.
All this would not have been possible without the generous help I received from everybody who contributed to the web site. Thank you all!
Believe it or not, but there are still many composers missing from the database. I will continue to add names, and I welcome your tips.
Also, quite some composers that are already on the site only have very limited information. If you think you can provide more information for these composers, then I will gladly accept your contributions.
You can always find the latest additions and changes on this page: http://www.classical-composers.org/page/new.
Musicatlas Italy update
The long awaited Musicatlas update for Italy has now been done. The region of Emilia-Romagna (http://www.classical-composers.org/musicatlas/map/21), with e.g. the cities Bologna and Ferrara, has now been added. During the coming weeks central Italy (with e.g. Florence), and the regions around Rome and Napoli will also follow.
I have also added many pictures for the Italian maps, so that now you can also see many of the statues, graves, memorial tablets, houses, museums, churches, organs, and theatres. Have a look, they often make you want to go there...
In the mean time work will continue on improving the information of the descriptions of the music atlas places.
