Classical Composers Database News
New feature: Female composers listing
Dear %3% (%2%),
168 female composers
Did you kow that at this moment there are 168 female composers listed in the Classical Composers Database? This is just over 5% of a total of 3235 composers.
No doubt there are still many missing from this list. Have a look at the female composers list here: http://www.classical-composers.org/page/female_composers, and let me know which names I still need to add.
More newsfeeds
If you are one of the many people who already use RSS newsfeeds to be informed of the latest news: the Classical Composers Database now offers three different ones.
Here they are:
- Today's composer events: http://www.classical-composers.org/rss/today
- Latest composer news items: http://www.classical-composers.org/rss/news
- Latest updates on the site: http://www.classical-composers.org/rss/new
If you have your own blog or other web site, you can also use these newsfeeds to add information to your own web site, so that your visitors will always see the latest information about composers.
Composition search
The development on the new composition search progresses steadily. Compositions for more composers have been added; e.g. Louis Andriessen and Hector Berlioz.
I invite you all to test this composition search (see http://www.classical-composers.org/page/srch) and let me know what you think of it.
Sound files
A few people have already offered to send me sound files which I can add to the web site. Many thanks for that! I plan to add them in the coming weeks, so keep checking the site regularly.
In the mean time you are welcome to send me more sound files, e.g. if you are a composers and want to promote your latest composition. Please note that there should be no copyright issues.
Announce your concerts
With the new concert season at hand, it is again time to add your newest concert announcements to the site. It's free, and simple! Go to the following page for instructions: http://www.classical-composers.org/submit/event.
New web server
In August the Classical Composers Database was migrated to a new web server. This has improved the speed of the site.
There is a small chance that some changes that were made, or e-mails that were sent during the migration (between 20 and 25 August), have gone missing. Let me know if you think one of your contributions was involved.
