The Polish composer Henryk Górecki (1933) has received a honorary fellowship for Cardiff University (Wales) at a ceremony held in Poland on 14 January. He received the award in recognition of his achievements. There are strong links of Górecki with Cardiff University. He was the subject of ground-breaking books written by staff within the School's Central European Music Research Centre. [source: www.newswales.co.uk]
