Listeners to BBC Radio 3 have voted for Puw's Oboe Concerto from 12 compositions by well-known British composers. The Award was announced in a ceremony hosted by the British Academy of Composers Guto Pew is Lecturer in Composition at Bangor University School of Music and also BBC NOW resident composer. The appointment with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales is for a three year period, which will end in 2008. Until then Guto Pew will write three works, two of which are being commissioned by BBC Radio 3 on behalf of the Orchestra. [source: www.newswales.co.uk]
