The Intercontinental Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Intercontinental Choir is an international consortium of avant-garde, contemporary classical, rock, industrial, experimental and non-musicians with the common goal of "making a lot of racket." Assembled and led by Jasun Martz, the 115 members of the orchestra recorded their parts for The Pillory/The Battle on virtually every continentÐ in cities in every corner of the globe. Utilizing the highest quality 24-bit digital technology, Martz then imported, manipulated and mixed literally thousands of digital files to create the final work of music. The original cover art is a detail of a drawing created especially for The Pillory releases by French modern master JEAN DUBUFFET

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Jasun continues his wonderful mix of rock/avante guard/ prog explorations.
As the others have stated before me, this is quite amazing. It is also quite eclectic, yet molded into a fabulous cohesive work of art. Huge in nature, yet very personal.

The rock sections are perfectly fused into the overall modern classical nature of the music. Jasun seems so comfortable within all of the realms, and proves that inspiration can be perfectly mated with intelligence and education.

I have never, ever EVER heard any music and sounds like this before. The music literally grabs a hold of you and will not let go... I am mesmerized by this music!!!
The sounds and noises are brutal and rumbling and amazing... the contemporary classical sections (for a huge, full symphony orchestra) remind me of Stravinsky's Le Sacre du Printemps but MUCH wilder and intense... Avant garde label Under the Asphalt will release one new CD each month by New York contemporary classical composer Jasun Martz. The first release is a new pressing of the The Pillory/The Battle performed by The Intercontinental Philharmonic Orchestra. Several of the recordings relate to Mr. Martz’s work with Frank Zappa and Michael Jackson and his collaboration with French modern artist Jean Dubuffet (who, before he died, created the cover artwork especially for several of Mr. Martz’s recordings).
