    — 11 August 2008 —

The international composition prize “Musikpreis Salzburg” of the Austrian province (Land) Salzburg for 2009 has been rewarded to Swiss composer Klaus Huber.

Since the early 1970's Huber is seen as an expressive musician, who has a message to tell through his compositions: his believing in the possibility of a better world.

The prize, worth €80000 (appr. $120000), will be handed to the composer on 29 March 2009 in the big hall of the Salzburg Mozarteum, as part of the Salzburg Bienale. The ceremony will be followed by a concert.
