The Strauß family — father Johann Sr. (I), and his sons Johann Jr. (II), Josef and Eduard — is famous for its numerous compositions of the dance music that was popular in Vienna in the 19th century. They all wrote many waltzes, polkas, marches and much more dance music. Johann Strauß son was the most famous of them all; he also wrote several well-known operettas.
