Composers that were born in Germany, or gained the German nationality.
Composers who have composed electronic music. That is music created by or modified by electronic devices. To hear that music an electronic device is required.
The composer Malcolm Dedman believes that "electronic music includes a) music produced in the studio from electronic generators and sound modifiers, recorded onto tape; b) Musique Concrete (from natural sounds with electronic sound modifiers) again recorded onto tape; c) music for electronic keyboard or computer that has been sequenced; d) music written for, e.g., keyboard that is played live with or without acoustic instruments (this would include music such as Stockhausen's Mantra). This list may not be complete, but I do not believe the category should include electric guitar or similarly amplified acoustic instruments, unless a sound modifier is used, neither do I include music for electronic organ. However, I do believe that it should include music written for the early electronic instruments such as Ondes Martenot, as they produce an entirely new range of sounds and techniques, in which case, Messiaen and Hindemith need to be included in your list."
