Composers that were born in Bohemia. Bohemia is nowadays the Western part of the Czech Republic.

The classical era in music, the transition from baroque to romantic music, lasted from around 1750 till 1800. In this period the symphony as a seperate work of art was developed. Another characteristic is the so-called sonata form, a way to structure music. The term classical for this music refers to the ancient Roman and Greek cultures, that were idealised in that era.

Composers that were born in the Czech Republic, or gained the Czech nationality.

All these composers are related to Jan Jiři [Johann Georg] Benda (1686–1757) and Dorota Brixi, whose son Jiři Benda is probably the most famous of the family. There were — and still are, such as the ensemble “The Benda Musicians”, which recorded works of all three on “Music of the Benda Family” — many musical relatives and offspring, including various minor composers.
