Music

Many well-known Danish songs, especially Morning and Evening Songs to words by B.S. Ingemann. Also a number of piano pieces.

Life

Born 1774 in Altona, which at that time was part of Denmark, Weyse would have probably lived in Germany for much of his life were it not for a visit to Copenhagen in 1789, which brought him into contact with important Danish musicians, leading to lengthy studies and considerable success prompting him to make Denmark his lifelong place of residence.
