Music

He composed many piano pieces, as well as a musical (La Fugue (1979), performed as Nostalgie in Darmstadt, 1992).

Life

Alexis Weissenberg was mainly known as a pianist. Some adored the way he played, but others detested his style. He escaped a World War II concentration when a guard heard him play Schubert on an accordion. He was then sent to Isanbul.
