Life

The violist Hieronymus Weickmann worked in Russia from 1853 till 1891. From 1855 till 1890 he played in the orchestra of the Mariinsky Theatre and from 1859 1889 he participated in the quartet of the St. Petersburg Branch of the Russian Musical Society, in which his partners were Leopold Auer, Ivan Pickel and Karl Davydov (and later Alexander Verzhbilovich). He also performed as a soloist: he played the solo part in the concert symphony by Hector BerliozHarold in Italy”, during performances of Berlioz in Russia in 1867.
