Music

Orianna Webb’s music has been hailed as "abound[ing] in urgent and mysterious detail" (Cleveland Plain Dealer) and as "work of uncompromising energy, both rhythmically athletic and sensuously lyrical" (Cleveland Free Times). Winner of numerous awards, Webb has been commissioned by the Cleveland Orchestra Youth Orchestra and the Akron Art Museum. Her orchestral work Being and Becoming was recently premiered at Severance Hall, home of the Cleveland Orchestra. Other works include Sequence Dreams: Five Bagatelles for Violin, Marimba, and Glass Instruments, the Sonata for Viola and Piano, and Deep in the Woods for Soprano and mixed sextet.

Life

A native of Akron, Ohio, USA, Webb currently resides in New Haven, Connecticut. She holds degrees from the University of Chicago and the Cleveland Institute Music. Webb has studied composition with Margaret Brouwer, John Eaton, Joseph Schwantner, and Roger Zahab, and at the La Schola Cantorum Summer Composition Program with Samuel Adler and Philip Lasser.
