Music

Apart from masses, psalms, and other church music, Viadana also composed madrigals, canzonets and 100 “Concerti ecclesiastici” (for 1–4 voices with organ continuo).

Biography

Viadana (real name: Grossi da Viadana) was appointed “maestro di cappella” at the Mantua cathedral befor 1590, and later at Concordia (1609) and Fano cathedral (1612). He reired to the Fransiscan monastry in Gualtieri (Viadana joined the Franciscan order in 1596), after he had lived in Piacenza from 1615.
