Music

Biography

Singer/composer/bass player Arnold Veeman decided in his early childhood that he would explore and master all musical genres. His artistic development was influenced by folk music, blues, bluegrass and country & western. With his mother, he sang during long car rides and when he helped her with cooking and dish-washing. He played in bands as varied as Pieterburenoverlast (as the drummer) and death-metal group Mon’strum. He currently plays guitar in Commandant, which is a grind core band. People who like to listen to the mellow tunes of his main band [www.arnoldveeman.com]. The Yellowish Summer Evening sometimes think this is an odd combination, but Veeman feels it doesn’t matter what you play, as long as he can be involved in the creation of new music.

After graduating "Summa Cum Laude" from the Zwolle Conservatory for his Masters (he was a student of Alex Manassen), Veeman became a professional composer. His works were played by internationally respected ensembles, among which are the Meridian Arts Ensemble, Ensemble Super Librum, Haydn Youth String Orchestra, the former Noord-Hollands Philharmonisch Orkest, Noord Nederlands Orkest and many others. His compositions won several prizes. Momentarily, Veeman primarily writes orchestral music for computer games for the international market.
