Life
Tunder was organist in the Marienkirche in Lubeck from 1641 and was succeeded by Buxtehude in 1668. He was noted for beginning the traditional "Abendmusiken" — free organ concerts — which ran for about two centuries. His organ works are published by Breitkopf & Hartel (www.breitkopf.com), and amount to 4 preludes, a fragment of a prelude, a canzona, and 9 Chorale Fantasias. (Contribution by Niall Carroll.)
