András Szöllősy composed large-scale orchestral works, such as Trasfigurazioni and Musica per Orchestra. He has been performed in many major European cities and in the USA.

Biography

András Szöllősy belonged to the most significant composers modern Hungary, alongside György Ligeti and György Kurtág. between 1939 and 1946 he studied at the Music Academy of Budapest with Zoltán Kodály and János Viski, and later in Rome with Goffredo Petrassi.

He is also know because of the Szőllősy index (Sz.), in which he indexed Béla Bartók’s compositions. He was professor at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music.
