Biography
Struempel was born in Tomilino near Moscow (his father was a German immigrant). He studied engineering and was a railway engineer in his main profession. Struempel considered himself an amateur composer. During the Russian revolution he went to Germany and then on to France, where he lived in Paris till his death in 1927.
