Life

The original name of Oscar Straus was Strauss (with two ‘s’), but he skipped the last is because he did not want to be associated with the members of the famous .

In 1939 he fled to Paris because of the Nazis, and became a French citizen. He also went to Hollowood. After the war he returned to Europe, and settled in bad Ischl.
