Life

Son of Johann Sr. Strauß and brother of Johann Jr. Strauß and Eduard Strauß.

His father wanted him to become an architect, which he did. However, he also secretly studied the violin. He successfully replaced his father — who then suffered from an illness. After that he started his own band, and he composed 283 dances for it. At a concert in Warsaw, Poland, he fell from the platform and injured his hand, after which he died.
