Life
Simone Stella, born in Florence in 1981, began the study of the piano at the age of 8. When he was 13 he was admitted to the State Conservatory of Music "L. Cherubini" of Florence in the piano class of Rosanita Racugno, with whom he still continues the piano study. He participated subsequently at some master-classes of pianistic improvement held by the pianist Marco Vavolo. At the age of 14 he began the study of the organ as self-study, becoming after little titular of organ in the Church of S. Maria Maddalena de’Pazzi, where he still plays and gives concerts, in the church of the Corpus Domini for a short period, and in the church of S. Michele Visdomini, which he leaves in February 2000. He has collaborated, in quality of organist, with the Polifonico Chorus of the CariCentro conducted from M° Fabio Del Cioppo. He has sung as tenor in the Vocal Quartet "Zefiro", which he has left recently, founded together with Valentina Musto, Maureen Lourdes Galea and Anthony Bonello, under the guide of Mario Pazzaglia, teacher of Practices Chorales and conductor of chorus near the Conservatory of Florence. As tenor he collaborates with the Chorus of the Conservatory Cherubini. Some years ago he began his activity of amateur composer, preferring organ and piano composition.
Currently he dedicates his studies to the deepening of the J.S. Bach’s keyboard music. The famous concert pianist and composer Rami Bar-Niv, one of Israel’s most acclaimed and sought after pianists, said (commenting Stella’s performance of the Allemande from French Suite II): "Excellent playing, I am very impressed. Clean, precise, not too dry, nice phrasing and sensitive. Great job."
