Biography

In 1745 he became the first violin player and conductor in Mannheim. Between 1754 and 1755 he was conductor in Paris. He was the first to use the clarinet in a symphony and established a model of the orchestra of classicism (before Mozart, who admired Stamitz´s orchestra). His son Carl Stamiz was also a famous composer.
