- Legacy gift of over $14 million from Ann Southam
[posted 26 October 2011]A legacy gift of $14 million of Canadian composer Ann Southam, who died in November 2010, is given to The Canadian Women's Foundation. This public foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls.
President and CEO of Canadian Women's Foundation, Beverley Wybrow, said: "She was involved with the Foundation for more than 12 years, as a donor, volunteer, and a spokesperson on behalf of strategic philanthropy benefiting women and girls."

- Ann Southam dies
[posted 29 November 2010]The Toronto composer Ann Southam has died last Thursday. She was a teacher in electronic music at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She composed extensively for electroacoustic instruments, but also for modern dance companies and choreographers, including the Toronto Dance Theatre. In recent years, she has been interested in purely acoustic instruments.
