David Warin Solomons writes:
I played the classical guitar until recently and I now sing alto in various choirs, mainly in Manchester Cathedral. My full-time occupation is translator (for a Government department).
I live in a tiny flat in Sale, just outside Manchester and spend a lot of my free time there sending music to many parts of the world for potential performances. Over the past few years there have been many performances of my music in various places all over the world, including a recorder orchestra suite and a wind quintet in the RNCM, Manchester, a piano rag in Ann Arbor Michigan, a tuba quartet in London and elswhere and a mass setting in Dublin and also in Manchester, a string quartet, organ pieces etc.
Recent performances of David’s works have included a solo work Pensieri su Klizemer, which has been performed by a saxophonist in France and by a flautist in the USA at various times, a duet for bass sax and cor anglais performed in the Netherlands, songs for countertenor performed in London and Washington, guitar solos and duets in New Zealand and guitar and flute duets in Florida.
David has also been making most use of his bass and alto voice interpreting the works of various fellow living composers, as well as his own works, at his mini-studio in Sale. Many of these recordings involve layering several vocal parts to create a choral effect (multivocal) and are available on his website and elsewhere.
