Biography

Studied in Ejmiatsin where he was attracted by the Armenian folksongs. Educated doctor in theology in 1896. Continued his musical studies in Berlin (1896-99), then returned to Ejmiatsin. Moved to Contantinople in 1910 where he founded a music school and a choir. Arrested and deported to the interior of Turkey in 1915. Moved to Paris in 1919, where he died in 1935.
