Music

Eclectic music spanning modern, classical and jazz/pop genres. Repertoire includes solo, chamber, orchestral, vocal, choral, electroacoustic and music for theatre and film. Current project is "24 Preludes and Inventions" for piano.

Life

Doug Smith was born in Vancouver in 1957. He has been active in the Vancouver music community for more than 30 years as performer, composer, arranger and teacher. He has received numerous commissions, most recently from the National Arts Centre Orchestra, Canadian Music Centre, the Douglas College Music Department, Joe Trio, Little Chamber Music Series, L.E.A.P.S. (Live Electronic Arts Performance Series) and the Vancouver Folk Orchestra. His works have been played throughout Canada and the United States.
