Life
Stanisław Skrowaczewski studied piano, conducting and composition at Lwow Music Academy. In 1946 he was appointed conductor of Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra. In 1947 he won the Szymanowski composition prize. He then returned to Paris and studied under Nadia Boulanger, Arthur Honegger and Paul Kletzki. Skrowaczewski then returned to Poland and was appointed conductor to the Katowice State Philharmonic Orchestra, and later the Cracow Philharmonic Orchestra. Then he went to America to be conductor of the Minneapolis State Orchestra.
