Manuscript of Shostakovich violin concerto brings double the estimate
(24 May 2006)
The manuscript of Dmitri Shostakovich's first violin concerto was auctioned at Sotheby's on 19 May. The final bidder offered £ 43,200, more than twice the top estimate. The document is a corrected proof of the version for violin and piano. In is enscribed "This can be printed in accordance with the corrections, DShostakovich 11 June 1956" (translated).
