Music

Biography

Born in Bern Urs Peter Schneider is a composer and improviser, interpreter and pedagogue. From 1959 until 1966 he studied piano under Walter Lang and Prof. Bruno Seidlhofer and composition under Sandor Veress and Karlheinz Stockhausen in Bern, Cologne and Vienna. In 1968 he founded the ‘Ensemble Neue Horizonte Bern’ which has seen over 800 concerts, radio broadcasts and manifestations to date. There have been twelve recordings produced between the years of 1967 and 2003 on various mediums and partly with a composed programme.

An increase has been seen of late in his appearances as a performer, often with his own text compositions.

Urs Peter Schneider is a specialist for preclassical and conceptual music.
