Life
Domingo Santa-Cruz is one of South Americas important composers. He studied jurisprudence at the Univ. of Chile in Santiago de Chile, and graduated with law degree in 1921. Then he entered the diplomatic service. He then studied music with Enrique Soro in Santiago and with Conrado del Campo in Madrid, Spain. He was professor at the National Cons. of Santiago de Chile, and dean of the faculty of fine arts at the University of Chile 1933-1951 and 1962-1968. Director of the Inst. de Extensión Musical of the University of Chile. He taught generations of South American up and coming composers through time.
