Life

Idin Samimi Mofakham is an Iranian composer and musician. He was born in 1982 in Tehran, Iran in an Artistic family. His late father, Kambiz Samimi Mofakham, was a famous and beloved children theatre and television director, actor and puppet maker and his mother Hengameh Mofid, is a famous children theatre artist and university professor and is from one of the most famous and well known Iranian artistic families.

Idin Samimi Mofakham beginning guitar lessons at the age 18 and later enrolled at the Tehran Conservatory (Khoshnahad Peyman) where he earned his B.A. in Classic Guitar; (2003-2005).

During those years, he founded his first music band “Migraine”, an experimental music group, with his sister (vocal) and his two friends. They had a few but highly successful underground performances in Tehran. But since there was no way to present the group through any authorized Iranian media, they stop performing for a while. Meanwhile the massive success of Migraine made them think more seriously about their music talents.

So Idin took more free classes in Composition, Harmony, Counterpoint and Orchestration and perfected his guitar playing with some of the best Iranian teachers.

Eventually he enrolled at Yerevan State Conservatory (Komitas Conservatory) in 2005, where he is now studying for his two master degrees in Composition and Symphonic Conducting. Under great instructions of his teachers, specially Maestro Ashot Zohrabian. he composed many instrumental and vocal (choir and solo) pieces and received an Honorary Diploma from Composers Union of Armenia for Monologue for Violin solo, Armenian Young Composers Festival 2008.

He also won the First Prize at the Areon Flutes Competition for Pastorale for 3 flutes, International Chamber Music Competition 2009, California, USA

His works also played in Iran, Armenia, Germany, Australia, USA and Canada.
