Music

Compositions of Anže Rozman are mainly influenced by late romantic composers, impressionists, film music and modern music of many genres. His opus holds orchestral pieces, choir pieces, many chamber and solo work and also electronic-computer based compositions. He is also a music producer, electronic musician and arranger.

Life

Anže Rozman (Kranj, Slovenija, 1989) is a young composer from Ljubljana. From his early childhood on he has shown great interest in classical music. On his home piano he improvised and thought up his first compositions even before any formal music education.

Education

He started his formal music education in 1997 at a private music school Musica Viva where he learned the basics of piano. In 1999 he enrolled into Music school Franc Šturm where he learned piano in the class of prof. Maja Cerkovnik. In 2005 he enrolled and was accepted into the Secondary music school of Ljubljana, where he studied harmony and counterpoint with professor Janez Osredkar. He Is currently studying composition in the class of Prof. Jani Golob at the Music Academy of Ljubljana.

On the basis of his compositions he was twice (2007 & 2008) accepted to the prestigious summer music school New York Summer Music Festival in USA as a student and in 2010 as part of the staff of the festival. There he got further knowledge of music composition, with composers and and professors Manuel Sosa (Julliard School of Music), Daniel Ott (Julliard School of Music), Eric Sessler (Curtis institute of Music), ect.

Achievements

At NYSMF he also had performances of six of his works. Although he is only 21, his works have been performed numerous times in major cities in Slovenia, around Europe and USA (New York, San Francisco, Paris, Zagreb...).

We must mention his Rhapsody for Symphony orchestra that was performed by the Opera & Ballet House Orchestra of Ljubljana in April2010 in the Slovenian Philharmonic hall.

In February 2010 his composition Prelude III was chosen as an obligatory piece for all competitors from ages 15–19 to play at the Chopin golden ring competition for young pianist.

With his piece “Fantasie Impromptu vs Revolutionary Etude“ he won at the competition held by the Polish embassy in Slovenia and Music Academy of Ljubljana for an orchestral piece using Chopin’s themes.
