Life
Mike Rowland was the originator of ambient relaxation music with the longest selling album The Fairy Ring, available today with many variations on YouTube! Subsequent albums include Silver Wings, Arc en ciel, My Elfin Friends, and many more. His piano playing, and his ability for composing music began in childhood, and his early recordings were in his own home studio using tape and splicing. These days, a Master in electroacoustic music Mike uses ProTools, Mac and modern facilities to aid his composition. He is currently creating new music with several friends. He is also an Interfaith Minister and Spiritual Counsellor.
Mike Rowland grew up on outer London where he learned piano as a boy and studied music at school. After a spiritual experience as a young man he first composed the Fairy Ring “which he heard as an inspiration” and recorded it. It became the music used for a new Yoga practitioner and the rest, as they say, is history. Mike completed a Master’s degree in electroacoustic music in 2000 specialising in live recordings and developing a new strata of electroacoustic music with symphonic form.
He lives in the quiet Suffolk countryside overlooking the sea, and is devoted to his playing, spiritual and music teaching, garden and nature.
