Music



Matthew Rowan began studying composition with Northern Irish composers Brian Irvine and Greg Caffrey at North Down & Ards Institute on the ND in Popular Music course. He then moved to Newcastle upon Tyne where he completed an HND in Music Production under Martin McAloon (Prefab Sprout). The natural progression onto the BMus in Popular and Contemporary Music at Newcastle University placed him in the care of Bolivian composer Agustín Fernández who, along with local composer Bennett Hogg, guided Matthew through a Master’s degree and now onto a Ph.D. in Contemporary Composition.
