Life
Hans Rott was a composer of late romantic symphonic repertoire. He was the favourite pupil of Bruckner, and was admired by Mahler.
Rott was the illegitimate child of 18 year old Maria Rosalia Lutz and 51 year old Carl Maria Rott (Roth). They did marry after his wife died. Hans Rott started hearing voices, was committed to a psychiatric hospital in Vienna, and later to a lunatic asylum, where he died of tuberculosis after several suicide attempts.
