Music

Life

The German composer, conductor and violinist Alexander Ritter was a Wagnerian (and married to Wagner’s niece Franziska in 1854). He was a major influence on Richard Strauss and acquainted him with the New German School. Ritter’s operas were premiered by Strauss.
