Some of Ridout’s works are: "Ferdinand" for speaker and solo violin, "Little Sad Sound" a melodrama for speaker and double-bass. Philips has recorded with Gidon Kremer and Alois Posh playing.

Biography

Alan Ridout, studied under Gordon Jacob and Herbert Howells at the Royal College of Music, and was awarded the Netherlands Government scholarship in 1958. He composed a wide range of choral and orchestral music, and was particularly successful in writing for children. He died in 1996, aged 61.
