Music
Apparently an eclectic, superficial, composer of little or no interest for the modern listener. In fact a formidable addition to my interest in music. Using materials from the German musical tradition, Raff manages to put them together in a way that sticks to the ear,and remains in my head for days after. His music combines the logic of Mozart´s constructions, the melodic inspiration of Schubert´s or Tchaikovsky´s, the rural and forestry scent of Mahler´s and at times the openness and wide scenarios of Sibelius´s. Unfortunately I can only recomend 3 recordings. The one by the late conductor Bernard Hermann, and the two by "Trios Opus 8" and "Trio Il Trittico". Don’t you listen to any other if you want to know what I mean.
