Louis Ferdinand was an excellent pianist and composer pioneered the way from the Classical to the Romantic style indeed more distinctly than his contemporaries. Beethoven dedicated him his Third Piano Concerto in recognition of the later´s talents as pianist and composer. Louis Ferdinand had more ample oportunity to devote his attention to musical life when his family moved to the Bellevue Castle in Merlin. He very likely was present at Court when Mozart came to visit in 1789. This year, Louis Ferdinand joined the military service, taking part in the hostilities against Austria (1789-1790) and the preparation for the Russian war in 1791.
