Life
The Polish composer Poniatowski was also an operatic tenor. The Polish Wikipedia entry gives 21 February 1816 as his dat of birth, The New Grove (1986 ed.) gives 20 February 1816.
He studied in Rome and Florence, won a prize in mathematics when he was 17, but chose a musical carreer. As a composer he is known for his operas, in which he also sang the title roles.
