Music
Loyset Piéton wrote motets, psalms and chansons.
His motets are distinguished examples of the imitative polyphony of the generation after Josquin des Prez. Piéton’s “O beata infantia”, in 6 parts, in the unusual mode of C minor Dorian, was included in a volume of motets by Adriaen Willaert, the champion of the fourth generation of Flemish Polyphony (in Venice).
Life
This French composer may have lived in Lyons and Italy, as his works appeared in anthologies published in both Lyons and Venice.
