Life
German composer. An instrumentalist and singer, he first served in Munich as chamber musician at the court, 1688-94 (but he spent part of that period in Rome). He then served at the Bonn court, as Kapellmeister from 1696; after returning to Munich (1701-6) he was court Kapellmeister at Stuttgart. His music, Italian influenced, includes sacred music, dramatic works, cantatas and instrumental pieces. (Source: Groves Dictionaries, MacMillan Publishers Limited, UK)
