Biography
Papineau-Couture studied piano and harmony and history with Franquise
d´Amour. He later studied with Léo-Pol Morin, and Gabriel Cusson.
In 1940 he went to the USA to study at the New England Conservatory in Boston. He then went to California to study with Nadia Boulanger there.
In 1945 he went back to Montreal, and devoted himself to teaching and
composition. He also taught piano at the Collége Brébeuf. Through the
sixties he was totaly living as a composer and a teacher. In 1973 he
recieved a Canadian Music Council Medal. He was a member of the Canadian League of Composers and an affiliate of BMI. He lived the rest of his life as a composer in Montreal.
