- Morricone wins Polar Music Prize
[posted 25 May 2010]The Italian composer, arranger and conductor Ennio Morricone has been awarder the 2010 Polzar Music Prize. He studied trumpet, and after that composition unde Goffredro Petrassi. He has gained world fame for his film music compositions, but he also wrote in other genres.
A quotation from the jury: “Ennio Morricone’s congenial compositions and arrangements lift our existence to another plane, making the mundane feel like dramatic scenes in full Cinemascope.”

- An Oscar at last for Ennio Morricone
[posted 18 December 2006]After 5 Grammy nominations, with no wins, Italian Composer Ennio Morricone has now finally received his Oscar. On 25th February he will receive a honorary Oscar for his "magnificent and multifaceted contributions to the art of film music."
In his carreer Morricone has composed over 500 TV and film score. Some famous film titles are: "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" (1966), "Once Upon a Time in the West" (1968), "The Mission" (1986), "The Untouchables" (1987), "Cinema Paradiso" (1988), and Lolita (1997).

Ennio Morricone is most famous for his songs in western movies. He wrote the film score for “The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly.” Another famous movie, a terribly underrated movie, that he wrote the score for, recently, was “Mission to Mars”.
