Biography

B.M. degree - Hardin-Simmons University 1954. MM degree - University of Texas 1957. Doctor of Music degree from Hardin-Simmons 1971. Studied composition at University of Texas and Eastman School of Music. Professor, resident composer, chairman Theory Dept. - Ouachita Baptist University since 1957. Conductor of Arkansas Symphony Orchestra ( Little Rock, Arkansas ) until retirement in 1973.

Guest conducts average of 40 concerts a year in Germany, France, Italy, England, Scotland, Iceland, Canada, Japan and 47 of 50 U.S. States.

1975 - Appointed Composer Laureate of the State of Arkansas by the Governor. Elected to the American Bandmasters Association in 1972, elected to Fellow of the Academy of Wind and Percussion Arts by National Band Association in 1984.
