Music

Mat Martin creates mainly acoustic instrumental and vocal music. He is currently developing a system of composition based on theories of linguistics, folklore and ethnic tradition. He holds a degree in music technology and was a pupil of composer Barry Seaman. Recent works include ‘Abstraction; Slides’ for two pianos and optional light, ‘Chimeres’ for orchestra and string sextet, ‘Parting Song’ for three voices and harp, ‘Hymnus...' for four part choir with piano trio and several piano miniatures. Limited recordings and full scores can be obtained by emailing the composer.

Biography

Born in Bath to an English father and Breton mother, mat began studying music aged three, continuing violin lessons until moving to london to gain a degree in music technology. he is planning to move to devon in september of 2002 to undertake research into contemporary music at Dartington college.
