- Tales Told by an Aging Bassoonist
Life

scgsah.state.sc.us> writes:
Max Lenz was born Feb. 28, 1887 in Frankfurt, Germany. He was a bassoon player and composer, and evidently conveyed humor in his music. There is a book that mentions Lenz that can be ordered on InterLibrary Loan, called Kurzgefasstes Tonkunstler Lexicon by Wilhelm Altmann and Paul Frank, first published in 1936. Trevco Music has a number of Lenz’s pieces available, and they are all published by Frohlich. The website for this company is www.trevcomusic.com.
I have also found out that his music was accepted by the Third Reich (although he was not considered a Nazi collaborator) and confiscated by the US Military. TrevCo said that the originals are in the Library of Congress, but upon contacting the Library of Congress, we found that they are not.
