Life

Reinbert de Leeuw has written some compositions, but he is mainly known as a conductor of contemporary music, and also as pianist. He conducted many of the great 20th century composers (Messiaen, Kagel, Gubaidulina, Górecki, Schőnberg, Webern, to name but a few), and made some highly praised recordings as a pianist (his interpretation of Satie’s compositions is legendary).
